Colors used in Canvas art
Art is a form of expressing deep feelings. Varied hues are used to complete this art of expression. An artist’s inclination to a specific hue reflects in the art.
While certain canvas art is retained as a basic outline with no colors other than shades of grey and white, most art works use a variety of color combinations to make the canvas art complete. When painting the colors it is important to bear the basic color theory in mind. Either warm colors or cool colors are to be used, that is, either colors of more yellow hue or colors of blue hue are to be used. If the artist chooses the painting to be monochromatic, proper distinction should be brought out among different outlines through the density in shades.
In case of dichromatic or multichromatic art, the artist needs to decide beforehand whether he would like the piece appear harmonious or contrasting. Harmony is attained by the use of colors which are of the same hue and stand close together in the color wheel. It creates a pleasant effect. By the use of contrasting colors the piece of art produces a more stimulating effect.
